Hey there! I'm an overnight Gram(me)!! So far (for about 6 hours now) I'm doing great. Baby Girl is off schedule real good. Napped maybe 1 hour instead of two. And her ONE hour was in a couple of short stints.
Gr'pa the escape artist made excuses that he had things to do this afternoon - he couldn't stay here and play with us. But that is okay. So far so good!
FOUR DOGS is going to be the bigger challenge in my book. I had just gotten Jaimee to sleep rocking her. All of a sudden the dogs decided to get up from THEIR naps and romp. Seeing what they had in the works I carefully got up and proceeded to lay her in the other room.
Between this room and the other room, as most of you know, is linoleum. Just got Baby J quieted and lulled back to sleep when the sound of sixteen feet with who knows how many toenails tap-tap-tapped across the floor to watch from the other side of the gate to see where I went and what was I doing.
Sixteen feet, who knows how many tapping toenails and ... two little eyes popped open and started looking around. I sat and rocked and patted and ... it was pretty obvious the nap was over. While I did the Vine she was in her jumper. (Like a walker for some of you mom's who have kids more than a couple of decades old - only in this you don't walk, you jump. Boing-boing-boing!!!)
While I worked in the kitchen earlier she sat on the floor with some toys -- with four dogs in the house -- well I had to change baby J's name from Jaimee to Hairy-ette. I got out the little sticky roller thing, rolled off the hair and turned her back into Jaimee.
Gotta run - I see a fretful hungry girlie on the horizon!
LATER - as in an hour and a half or so ...
I called it. It was SUPPER time!! I decided to sit at the table and do it because --
Well, kinda like there are all those toes (for tapping toenails?) with the dogs -- babies have LOTS of little digits called fingers. It only looks like they have 10 - but I'm here to tell you there are a LOT more invisible ones! I wanted to be sure we didn't have a big mess - so THAT is why we sat tat the table. Good thing too! We have squash (or sweet potatoes?) in a big splotch in one spot of the tablecloth. We have green beans or some other green vegetable on the floor. And that was all caused by ME.
By that time she was fussy and obviously tired. But no one in their right mind would put a baby to bed with that much cereal, fruit and vegetables in their hair and on their bodies (it probably wasn't THAT bad, but ... coulda been less!!). So I filled up the sink with nice water. Undressed her and put her in the sink. Oh how she loved that. Had a nice 1/2 hour or so bath. I let some of the water out and put in more warm as it was getting cooler. She splashed and played and had a lot of smiles. Then the little chin started to vibrate and I got her out.
Now she is dressed in layers because Rhiannon's room where she will sleep is pretty chilly. She has a long sleeved onesie on and socks, then a fleece jammie, then another bigger fleece jammie. She fussed slightly and now is sleeping. I don't have to worry about her getting out of the covers and being cold. I think she'll do well - but I will check her in a bit to make sure she isn't too hot (or cold).
I have some Rhode's frozen bread rolls raising and will pop them in the oven to bake before I head up to bed. We're invited to the farm for lunch tomorrow after church and I had nothing prepared to take. So hopefully this is something that will serve as a meager 'offering' toward whatever mom is planning.
Later!

ReplyDeleteHey, we're famous. I see our moster video linked.
ReplyDeleteThose Baby Einstein videos are the BEST! It was the only time I could ever set Scarlett down.
